MUSC 222 - Music Theory andAnalysis III, Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training III Credits: 3
This course is a continuation of MUSC 124 - Music Theory and Analysis II, and Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training II . It teaches the history of musical technique in an advanced study of harmony and application of theory to the keyboard. Students will study chromatic harmony, harmonic analysis, and the larger musical forms. Aural training and sight singing skills based on the methods and sequencing of Zoltan Kodaly, including improvisation, sight singing, dictation, and error detection. Other music education methods, such as Orff, Dalcroze, BAPNE and others will be incorporated. This course is the third of a four-semester sequence. This course is part of the university’s Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines program.
Pre-Requisites: MUSC 124 - Music Theory and Analysis II, and Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training II , ENGL 120 - College Composition II or ENGL 121H - Honors Composition II . Offered: Fall
