MUSC 224 - Music Theory and Analysis III, Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training IV

This course is a continuation of MUSC 222 - Music Theory andAnalysis III, Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training III. It teaches the history of musical technique advanced harmony in the application of music theory to the keyboard. Students will study 20th century and contemporary compositional theories and analysis. Aural training and sight singing skills based on the methods and sequencing of Zoltan Kodaly, including improvisation, sight singing, dictation, and error detection. Other music education methods, such as Orff, Dalcroze, BAPNE and others will be incorporated. This course is the fourth in a four-semester sequence. This course is part of the university’s Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines program.

Pre-Requisites: MUSC 222 - Music Theory andAnalysis III, Kodaly, Solfege and Ear Training III, ENGL 120 - College Composition II or ENGL 121H - Honors Composition II.
