NURS 268 - Nursing and Special Populations Clinical

NURS 268 is a clinical course that complements the Nursing and Special Populations curriculum, allowing PN students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings focused on maternal/child, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric/mental health nursing. Students will engage in hands-on experiences that reinforce their understanding of unique care considerations for these special populations. Through clinical rotations in diverse healthcare environments-including maternity/pediatric locations, long-term care facilities, and mental health facilities-students will practice the nursing process, prioritize patient care, and enhance their clinical reasoning skills. Emphasis will be placed on family-centered approaches, effective communication, and culturally competent care. Students will gain valuable insights into the complexities of nursing care within these populations, preparing them for real-world challenges in their nursing practice.
